Katia Grondin - Squamish Lifestyle Photographer

How does it feel to walk away from a successful photo shoot? EXHILARATING!

Some people skydive (*raises hand*), some ride street bikes, some ride rollercoasters. All of which are perfectly exhilarating activities, but are not things I can do on a daily basis. But, I can bring my camera with me everywhere I go, so I'll take it.

I am a photographer from Squamish, BC. I was born and raised in this natural playground. The beauty that surrounds us stops me in my tracks, all the time. No matter the season, (hey - torrential downpour doesn't count as a season!) you can swivel your head in any direction and you are guaranteed to see something beautiful. I have been seeing this beauty from a very young age. We are blessed with many natural wonders. The Squamish Chief, the Four Lakes trail, the Windsurfing spit, the Elaho, the Squamish Valley, Paradise Valley, the Brackendale bald eagles, the Tantalus Mountain Range, Whistler-Blackcomb Resort, we even had our very own Squamish Music Festival! (RIP) The list continues forever. The Sea to Sky is such a wonderful, vibrant place to be. The amazing scenery we are blessed with cannot be matched.

I started out my photography journey with buying disposable cameras and having them developed in town. Did you know that Save-On-Foods used to have a photo desk? Getting those photos back was always so exciting. So imagine my delight when I received my first point & shoot camera as a Christmas gift...A whole new world of infinite photo opportunities opened up. I was very young at the time, but I haven't looked back. I have never stopped taking photos. Before I knew it, people were asking me to take their portraits. I have been honing my skills for years, and it has paid off. Now I am finally doing something I am deeply in love with.

I am so privileged to be able to walk away from a photo shoot with this feeling of exhilaration. It doesn't last forever, but the memories I capture do - and that just warms my heart and takes my breath away. I absolutely love giving my clients the gift of beautiful memories; a little slice of time to hold onto, forever.
